It is rumoured strongly that actor Simbu might quit acting in films to take up directing films full-time. Simbu’s latest film Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangathavan has been pilloried by his own fans, critics, people and the print and television media. It’s a general feeling that this might turn out to be the worst-ever performance in Simbu’s more than a decade-long career in films as a hero.
Adik Ravichandran, who made the G.V. Prakash Kumar-starrer Trisha Illanna Nayantara a few years back and faced a huge flak for the film’s adult content, was expected to make a honest attempt to shed the tag of an ‘adult film maker’ but ironically, he has only reiterated the tag further by making the hugely despicable Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangathavan.
With huge negative criticism pouring in from many quarters with each passing day, Adik is said to have dropped the idea to make a sequel to the film. Simbu, who had earlier claimed that he didn’t want to be in films but was continuing only at his fans’ behest, is said to have taken a final call on acting career to quit acting but continue in films as a director.
In all probability, Simbu might make an announcement soon about his next directorial venture which would have newcomers in lead roles. His fathr T. Rajendar might step in as the producer.
